As I mentioned in my previous blog posts, Symbian Belle for Nokia N8 appeared on Navifirm and I flashed it to my Nokia N8. And then Symbian Belle official release was delayed to Q1 2012 as mentioned here and people are almost frustrated because of so much delay. Everybody out there want to try Symbian Belle but some don;t know how to do it and some are afraid to brick their phone. I got several request for explaining how to flash Belle to Nokia N8 on twitter ( @ksg91 ) and explaining this in 140 char is almost impossible. So, as promised, I am writing this post on how to flash Nokia N8.

Symbian Belle Not Coming in Q4 2011? – Update
Its been long enough since Nokia announced Symbian Belle and started shipping few Symbian Belle devices, all existing Symbian Anna users are waiting eagerly and losing their patience for receiving Symbian Belle for their phones. Nokia promised to release Symbian Belle to all Symbian Anna devices in Q4 of 2011. Symbian Belle for N8 already made an appearance at Navifirm for a while and still there is no sign of Symbian Belle officially.
Yesterday, in reply to @vivekkl ‘s question for release date of Symbian Belle for N8, @nokia replied “coming months” .
I have already asked @nokia and @NokiaHelps personally serveral time and up till now they were saying it will come before the last week of Dec ends! Sudden change in release plan? This may be very disappointing. However this is not first time any release is delayed, just remember the delay in Symbian Anna. Well, we may have the same fate for Symbian Belle also. It is also being guessed that release is postponed because of some testing. Some rumors says it will come to Thailand in Feb 2012. Whatever the reason maybe, but this delay is surely going to affect the interest of users.
One thing I will like to say to Nokia is, no doubt, you take great stuff but you are late to bring it to the market and lose the interest of customers. I think, Nokia seriously need to consider this thing.
Many N8 users have already lost their patience (including me) and already running Symbian Belle leaked from Navifirm. And this leak runs pretty fast and with almost no bug! Still we crave for official release because official is official! 😛
UPDATE:
@nkumar_ tweeted following pic
Now, this looks a like, Symbian Belle is not really coming this month. It has been postponed for some reason.
If you got any news about this, please let me know. 🙂

USB OTG: Sharing the Charge!
When Nokia N8 was announced, people came up with different usage about USB OTG and showing different capabilities of this feature. USB OTG can let you attach an external HDD, attach a USB mouse or keyboard, some attached barcode reader, etc. Nokia N8 and similar S^3 phones comes with the USB Charging. You may charge a phone using its microUSB port. I wonder, why nobody thought (or at least put attention to ) charging one phone with another phone using USB OTG and microUSB charging. I had this in mind since after I bought N8 but having no other phone to test it, just left the thought. After having the Nokia E7 from @Nokia_Connects for trial, I finally got a chance to try it and test if this really works?

Symbian Belle got some Bug?
Symbian Belle for Nokia N8 appeared for sometime on Navifirm and some users managed to download it and uploaded to file hosting sites as I mentioned here , I, losing all the patience, flashed it to my N8. It is said to be official Firmware for T-Mobile. How ever I encountered some bug / malfunctioning of this.
Last night, I installed Gravity and Swype only. But in the morning, when I tried to open Gravity from Homescreen, shortcut wasn’t responding. I thought to open from menu but encountered error: “Homescreen: Application can not be run because of security reason”. After all this, I thought to restart my phone (a standard method to solve issue in Symbian 😉 ). After phone started, I couldn’t find Gravity or Swype in my phone, they were gone! I downloaded Gravity again and installed. After installation, when I started Gravity, my all accounts I added previously was there! This is strange, because if application existed, I would have been asked to overwrite it! However, old data was still there!
I was still not sure if this happened just to me, but a twitter user @TKay_88 also said he faced same thing on his Symbian Belle for N8! I won’t consider this to be a serious issue and comparing to the fun of Belle, I can surely ignore it.
Apart from this, I have not found any issue with Belle. Phone has become amazingly fast and new UI is awesome! I must say, I am in love with Symbian Belle! 🙂
Did you guys find any problem with your phone? Do share here. 🙂

Symbian Belle for N8 appears on Navifirm – Updated
As the rumors were saying Symbian Belle for N8 should be releasing on week 48 and I predicted it to be released on 29th on one of my tweets. Well, this prediction turned true to some extent. Today, Symbian Belle (v 111..030.0607) for Nokia N8 (RM-596) appeared in Navifirm, reported by many users and blogs. However I was busy giving my exam (>_>)
Currently, only Quality Assurance server is responding but it is not showing Symbian Belle. Remaining two servers are not responding.
It is being said that Symbian Belle is pulled back from for the server. Reason may be, Nokia don’t want to lose the attention from their Nokia Lumia phones. Whatever the reason maybe, but one thing we can be assured about is, we are going to get update OTA soon. Let’s see how long it takes.
One of the member of DailyMobile Forums managed to download all the files and they are uploaded to http://www.multiupload.com/2M6DE8VMBO . You can download them if you are impatient. 😉
UPDATE:
Finally. Product External server is responding in Navifirm and showing 111.030.607 update for N8 but no variant! So, Symbian Belle update is pulled from public view. Let’s see, how long they keep it like this.

Nokia E7 – Beautiful Business Companion
It’s been many days since I have had Nokia E7 in my hand, but couldn’t post the review. Well, I have been little busy with college because term end came and submission and all that started. Anyway, I am writing review now. Few weeks ago WOMWorldNokia (now @Nokia_Connects ) sent me a review unit of Nokia E7 and I am still playing around with it. My Nokia N8 is still at Nokia Care for last couple of weeks as for further service and due to holidays of Diwali. So I was completely over Nokia E7 and being one and only phone with me, I got to know it much deeply than I may have got along with N8. All I can say now is, it was very nice time with Nokia E7.
Anyways, I have been user of Nokia N8 for more than a year now and Nokia E7, like a cousin of Nokia N8, contains many similarities with Nokia N8 in design and spces, so my review will take many points of the devices from the perspective of a Nokia N8 user.

New Nokia Store
After Nokia announcing dropping of Ovi branding, you will have seen Ovi being dropped gradually, first social accounts then website etc, and finally Ovi Store is going to be replaced by Nokia Store.
Before Nokia Store is pushed as Software Update, Nokia has given its sneak peak to its betalab testers.
Nokia said on Betalabs:
We are offering members of the Nokia Beta Labs community a preview of the new Store client. Please help us in testing it before it is deployed in a software update.
This beta Store client will replace the current Store client on your Symbian^3 or Symbian Anna device, and it supports nearly all of the features as the official Store client (Web Runtime). The key new features this client brings include:
- Easier navigation
- Improved product details view, for a rich and fluid discovery experience
- Quicker, smoother and more responsive than WRT client
This new Nokia Store has Symbian Belle look. You can see that Belle style Status Bar and Toolbar at bottom. New store is made using QML components. Looks is quite stylish and smoother experience. Now there is no more blank tables when apps are being loaded but it is replaced by a rotating animation.
Well, seeing all these updates coming soon, I can say, we, N8 and first batch of S^3 devices, are getting Symbian Belle soon. 😀

This Is Why I Love Nokia!
It was the era when Mobile Phones came to India and they were something everybody wanted to have one but not affordable to everyone! And finally we decided to buy a phone. The only company that was known those days was Nokia and so we bought Nokia 3310. And the story started. Its been about 10 years and I still remember those days. Since then, I have been using various Nokia phones till date and quite obsessed with them. There lies a Nokia fan here. I have several big debates with friends in real life or online, all they say is Nokia is not so good! But I never let them win those debates! 😛
Ok, it seems I am boring you, lets come to the point, why I love Nokia. Nokia is not so famous just for producing nice Phone but something, that many companies fail to have, i.e. after-sales service, great customer support and customer relationship. This is what has made them be the most trusted brand in India. There have been many incidence that really made me a Nokia Fan and not to mention all, I am just wanna share what they did for me today.
Those who love Nokia may probably know WOMWorld/Nokia pretty well. Those who don’t know, WOMWorld/Nokia is a Nokia sponsored resource providing latest news, comment and feedback on all things about Nokia from around the world. Since I became active on twitter, I wasn’t an exception to follow them. I follow many bloggers too. I saw WOMWorld/Nokia sending trial Nokia devices to many bloggers, developers and some non-geeks too! I recently started blogging and wanted to try some Nokia too but I was afraid to ask as my blog is quite new and so I left the thought of asking for one review unit.
Later I got some issue with my Nokia N8 in USB port and went to Nokia Care. Due to design of N8, they have to send my N8 to Delhi for about 12 days. I refused to give for now as all my spare phones were not working and phones are something I depends a lot these days. I thought “why not try to ask for a review unit from WOMWorld/Nokia? ” and I explained the situation and asked for a review unit. I mailed on weekends. I waited for couple of days but no reply! I thought I wont be getting one. But on this great monday, I received a mail from them and I was quite surprised to read the mail. They were late (not actually late) to reply because it was weekends. This was what written in it:
Hi Kishan
We can definitely get you something to trial at least while your N8 is being repaired. The question is which would you like? At the moment we have the C7, E7, N8, X7, and E7 available. Also some BH-905i or Nokia 806’s accessories to go with the phone.
Let me know which phone you would like and we’ll take it from there.
Thanks,
Paul
Can you imaging, you will get choice of such high end phones? And the unexpected offer of having such a great headsets with phones without even asking for it too! Man, they really won my heart today. Have you ever saw any company like this?
I asked for one review unit of simple accessory from a company (can’t mension their name, sorry) and their first question was “Can you please send us the visitors stats of your site” and it was obvious to fail here for a new blogger like me. While WOMWorld/Nokia, without asking for anything about my blogging site’s stats, replied that mail so greatly! I really thank them for such an awesome response.
All I wanna say is THIS IS WHY I LOVE NOKIA! And after this post if you call me a fanboi, who cares? These points are enough for me to love a company! Thank you all at Nokia and WOMWorld/Nokia, especially Paul. 🙂
NOTE TO OTHER COMPANIES: Learn From Nokia, guys! 😛
UPDATE: Even before I publish this post, I received another mail from them with agreement form for all formalities to get device and here we go. Hurrrray.. 😀
